Alison Morris Roslyn is an author, sommelier, seasoned journalist, breast cancer survivor, and Hamptons enthusiast. We recently sat down with Alison to discuss her new book (read the interview here!) and to tap into her insider knowledge of the East End. Read on for her summer in the Hamptons shortlist for adults: go-to spots for date night, girls’ night out, spa days and more.

Coffee and Breakfast

Tutto Caffé

“I run on Saturday mornings with Hamptons Run Club. We meet outside of Lululemon at 7:30am in the summer (8:00am in the winter) and always wrap up with coffee and breakfast at Tutto. My favorites are the almond croissant and Federico’s cappuccinos.”

Lunch With Friends

Clam Bar

“Out here you either go to lunch or Clam Bar and I’m a Clam Bar girl. The Lobster BLT (best sandwich in NY) and Lobster Salad on a Kale Caesar are my favorites. You know summer is coming when Clam Bar is open and you can eat outside with friends–even if you’re all in sweatshirts.”

Ditch Witch

“You have not lived if you haven’t tried a Missy’s Mixed Plate from the Ditch Witch food truck at Ditch Plains Beach in Montauk (second parking lot). It has salad, sesame noodles, rice and your choice of protein. I always get the spicy tuna poke and add seaweed salad and avocado. It’s the perfect lunch at the beach.”

Round Swamp Farm

“I don’t care what chicken salad Bethenny Frankel likes best. My favorite will always be the chicken salad from the Round Swamp Farm on Three Mile Harbor Road in East Hampton! I love to bring this home to have with Goldberg’s bagels by the pool.”

Go to Dinner

Rita Cantina

“For a chill night out, they have the most delicious Mexican food. Rita makes the best shrimp quesadilla. My husband is obsessed with the duck carnitas. Diego at the bar makes fabulous tequila and mezcal drinks. Dylan will take great care of your table.”

Bistro Été

“For a special occasion you absolutely can’t beat Bistro Été in Water Mill. I celebrated my sommelier certification here. Chef Arie and his wife Liz own the place and it’s just magnificent. The nightly specials list is as long as the menu. Arie loves the finer things: a touch of truffle here, champagne sauce there. His wine list is beautiful and VERY well priced. HIs steak club is really cool. I’m a member.”

Bostwick’s on the Harbor

“You can’t beat the sunset views or the fresh fish at Bostwick’s. Their steamers and baked clams are the best. Try the tilefish. It’s an east end thing. Fran’s spicy margaritas are legendary. We love walking here on a weeknight.”

Play

Wölffer Wine Stand

“On Fridays and Saturdays, the Wine Stand has sunset music, and I can’t think of a more perfectly Hamptons thing to do than pull up a blanket in the vineyard, sip rosé, and listen to great live music.”

Montauk Brewing Co.

“We go to Montauk Brewing Co. every Sunday afternoon to meet friends for what we call “Sunday Meeting.” They have a patio out front, there’s a playground across the street for the kids, and our best buddy, J, is behind the taps. MBC is a wonderful spot to catch up with friends. You’ll always see someone you know here, especially on a Sunday. They have beers on tap that you’ll only find at MBC (the jalapeno watermelon is my summer favorite) and some great N/A options.”

Ditch Plains Beach

“It’s the only beach we go to regularly. You feel like you’re a world away from everything, because you really are. My husband loves to surf here and says the high dunes remind him of Australia. It’s my favorite place to read, relax and run along the water.”

Sag Harbor Cinema

“It’s such an awesome local movie theater with a rooftop bar. It’s the perfect place to go on a rainy day or for a date night and dinner in town.”

Hair and Nails

Emi Aoki

“I still go into NYC once a month to see my friend Emi for Japanese gel nails. I’ve been going to her for a decade and she is the best!”

Spa 27

“Rosa does a fantastic pedicure. I’m a big runner and she knows how to keep away ingrown toenails and cracked heels. Ask her for a rounded square shape–she does them like no other.”

Dini Wigs

“I’ve been leaving my natural hair alone since I had chemo, so it can grow back in without any additional stress. It’s been through a lot. I got two wigs from Dini, so I can look like a person who didn’t just roll out of bed until my hair grows in. It takes a minute to get used to wearing a wig, but I love how easy it is to pop one on and go.”
