Favorite Hamptons (and Montauk) Haunts | Hamptons Moms

Now that summer’s over and fall is upon us I can settle into doing what I do best ….vetting! My job is to be constantly vetting and curating so that you can just ask me or read it on this site or on IG or Facebook. Without further ado, here are my favorites! Enjoy!! If some are closed for the off season please go in May as they first open. If it is on my list trust me you want to be there!

Let’s start with Montauk. Let’s start at THE END.

Favorite things to do :

Be a tourist and go to the lighthouse with my family to learn about it (there is a museum inside the lighthouse) there is a children’s playground there as well for post learning and lighthouse climbing adventures. Bring food, have a picnic its great fun and sometimes you can see some whales!

Kirk Beach and Ditch Plains depending on the nature of your beach day. If you have some budding surfers in your fam you should definitely do Ditch Plains epic waves and epic vibes you can ride waves with surfers from all over the world. It truly is epic! If surfing is not your vibe Kirk is a really great beach right by town you can spend the day laying out, flying kites etc then head across the street into town for pizza, putting, shopping or anything else. Montauk really is the chillest vibe out east hands down!

Places to stay:

If you aren’t from here you are going to want to stay in the following spots depending on if you have kids or have left them with relatives or nanny and are enjoying adult time! Without kids OR with kids I love Gurneys both MTK locations are magical. I like star island better with kids and the other location on Old Montauk Hwy better without kids personally although both are fabulous either way. Marram is VIBES I would stay there without kids for a sexy and fun weekend to reset although i think kids are always welcome of course. Hero Beach club is a fun spot for a girls weekend or a fun weekend away they have a chill vibe there and for the kids (meaning Millenials and people without children here to party) there is always Surf Lodge, Sole East and Ruschmeyers.

Where to eat! My favorite part:

Naturally Good and Joniś are the best local haunts for healthy and casual. Pizza Village is your spot for a slice right in town

VIBEY spots with good food: Sel Rose, La Fin and Crows Nest are my trifecta and Crows is great for families too; the kids can just go free-range. It’s epic.

Local spots: Inlet seafood, Salivars, Gosmans, Harvest on fort pond.

Napeague is the stretch of land between Montauk and Amagansett which used to ONLY be known to us at Cyrilś but it you haven been going to the Hamptons as long as I have you may only know that stretch of land as either Lobster Roll AKA Lunch or the Clam Bar. Either spot will

serve you up epic lobster rolls and fried clams etc. Lunch will come correct with a BBC which is a Bailey’s Banana Colada the signature drink of Napeague if you will (RIP Cyril we love you). There is also a newish bar called Best PIzza Dive Bar. In my opinion, they nail the dive bar part complete with a cigarette machine and those leather swivel chairs you haven’t seen since your uncle Charlieś garage in the 80ś. Come for the pizza stay for the dive vibe. The pizza is just ok BUT I do not approve of any of the pizza out east really I am a NYC pizza girl and it just is not at the same level here. I am very sorry.

Amagansett! One of my favorite spots.

What to do:

Chill in Amagansett square shop for cool sunnies and dope jewelry at Love Adorned. Do not forget to pick up cute kid duds at Pink Chicken and something for mom at either Ulla Johnson, Jenni Kayne or Henry Lehr. Heading to a dinner party no worries, Cavianola has some yummy cheese for you to bring to the hostess!

Where to stay:

Inn at Windmill Lane, Reform Club

Atlantic Beach is the best spot for families because they have food and snacks and healthy options and yes ice cream which makes it THE summer hang out spot for sure. Rosieś for avocado toast, Wollfer for a fun weekend brunch vibe or Main street tavern as well are definitely worth the wait if there is one. Jacks coffee if you are on the go and you can not leave Amagansett without dancing at Stephenś Talkhouse. I think it is a rite of passage! IL Buco is the best dining in town, hands down. Unclear how long they will stay open until but it is delicious.

East Hampton

Amagansett’s older more serious sister.

Beach: Main Beach is epic food, live music during summer it is magnificent. Places to Stay :

Maidstone, 1770 House, Baker House, Journey

So many lovely Inns that are just charming and give you that New England feel to the max. Best food:

Serafina, East Hampton Grill, Bostwicks Chowder House is yummy and best for families, Cittanuova is a classic for families or dining with adults. Blue Parrot is a great option for families or when you need a margarita and Rowdy Hall is great for that burger with the fam. Babetteś is the spot for fantastic people watching great green juice drinking.

Fierroś pizza in East Hampton is actually pretty legit. It is for real the only spot I deem legit NYC-style pizza so definitely go there for your slice!

Where to shop: Tons of NYC level shopping in EH so you have your usual suspects Gucci, Balenciaga, Ralph Lauren, Kirna Zabete etc.

Wainscott:

You will pass it on 27 so you might as well know where to stop if you need to.

Levain Bakery. You are both welcome and doomed. It’s the NYC cookie shop of your dreams or in my case nightmares because I eat 12 at a time. They are THAT GOOD. The only other decent Hamptons slice is here, it’s at La Capannina. The seafood shop is where you get your fresh seafood from. It is expensive but worth it. Stop at the Torchd Shop it is the curated store of celebrity trainer Isaac Boots. He is fabulous and there are fabulous things in the store worth a checkout.

Sag Harbor

Sag Harbor is one of my favorite Hamptons Hamlets perfect for families and couples alike! Best spots for families include LT Burger and Sag Town pizza and Buddah Berry. Best places to shop include Ryland, Matriark, I Love Havens and Frances Valentine. So much to see and do walking up and down main street. Bay street theatre and Sag Harbor cinema. Places to stay:

Baronś Cove and The American Hotel are charming, with great restaurants. Other not to miss eateries:

Tutto IlGiorno has great food, a better Vibe and celebrity-citing spot. Dopo la Spiaggia is delicious and underrated in my opinion. Lulus is a scene and has good food as well. Beacon has really stepped up their food game this summer. It’s very nice.

Provisions is the best for staying healthy on the go!

Sagaponack boasts the vineyards on the south fork head to Wolffer or Channing daughters for great wine and outdoor events through the off-season and definitely summer as well.

Water Mill

Provisions second outpost for healthy eating. Bistro Léte for date night dining. SoulCycle is here with a setup for outdoor cycling that is very covid friendly. Sushi Suki is a crowd favorite for sure! Relax at Hamptons Float reset for your weekend or week and chill.

Southampton

One of the largest Hamptons hamlets and one of the most vibrant year-round communities in the Hamptons. Also, lots of NYC shopping like East Hampton with a bit of a preppier vibe you have your J McLaughlins, BonPoint, Ralph Lauren, Intermix, Veronica Beard etc. personally I shop at Ariś closet she gets the best vintage anywhere!

My favorite places to eat:

Le Charlot for moules frites

Sant Ambroeus for sandwiches and delicious dinners

Argento for the vibe and the Branzino

TBar is delicious and close to the train for the commuters out there. I love Naia at the Capri oh yes and you can also stay at the Capri if you are in from out of town.

Hampton Bays

Cowfish

Rhumba has the same owners both excellent and family friendly. The Hampton Maid is a cute place to stay and the food is supposed to be phenomenal. I havent tried it yet. Meschutt Beach is the spot for kids in the summer.

Quogue

Stone Creek Inn for date night or dinner with your parents. Very yummy older crowd. To stay: Quogue club at Hallock House

Westhampton Beach

John Scottś surf shack is the cutest and a yummy spot to eat with kids, families or with whoever it is casual and fun.

Brunettiś pizza right in town is delicious. They have their West Village Location and WHB is the second location they are killing it. Truffle pizza they have yummy pizza I would check it out for sure! LT Burger in town is another family favorite.

Shock for toys, ice cream, and kids clothes.

Flora is a relatively new spot and very good nouveau American eats!

Ok, you are ready to hit the Hamptons! Oh yes and Hanks Pumpkin town in the fall and Corwiths Farm Stand always! Enjoy!
