i-Tri Girls Expands Reach | Hamptons Moms

I-Tri Girls, an empowerment through triathlon program for middle school girls is offering its virtual training program for FREE to ANY girl (ages 11-14) starting in February! The in person program has in the past been limited to local East End communities, but something good has come from troubled times – this year it is open to ANY girl from ANYWHERE!

Beginning February 1st for a period of 16 weeks, i-tri girls will meet virtually for an immersive training program that includes:

  • weekly empowerment sessions/fitness experiences
  • olympic challenge specific training on Saturdays
  • integrated stem curriculum
  • the i-tri olympic challenge which will be held May 22nd, 2021

In response to social distancing recommendations, i-tri has modified their programming into a digital format. “Last year, we saw how important our program was to the girls who participated.  And this year, as the pandemic continues to impact schools, after-school programs, and sports, studies are showing that middle-schoolers are among those most negatively impacted by the ongoing stress and uncertainty of our situation.  At a time when they are supposed to be developing social and emotional skills that will enable them to assert their independence from their families, they now have no choice but to spend most of their time with only their immediate families.  i-tri provides middle school girls not only with Empowerment, Fitness and Olympic Challenge training, but this year with the physical, mental and emotional tools to navigate the ongoing crisis. Our program gives girls the opportunity to develop connections and friendships with other middle-school girls going through the same thing not only in their own schools, but this year, across the country.” Theresa Roden

The are excited to be able to share instruction and training to assist girls in reaching their MIND, BODY and SPIRIT goals. During weekly live Zoom meetings, they will take their empowerment, exercise and training sessions online, keeping girls connected to their program and to one another. The girls will build strong connections, gain emotional support and learn tools to help them succeed in their future goals. i-tri has always been about empowering girls. They focus on building resiliency and strength that girls can use in an out of i-tri as they manage their emotional well being.

Traditionally i-tri has been an in person program. The virtual program is open to all girls and is free to all participants. The Olympic Challenge program requests a $25 registration fee, but if you cannot afford the fee it will be waived.

The i-tri girls and their families are asked to participate in fundraising programs that enable the organization to provide the service and materials needed. This is not a requirement.

Your daughter will meet virtually with i-tri after school once a week from 4:00 – 5:45pm Eastern, and on Saturdays from 10:30 – 11:30am Eastern, from February through May. You will get weekly reminders through their app. Meetings are private and every security precaution has been taken to insure your daughter’s safety.

i-tri will be hosting parent/guardian meetings for those who would like to get their daughters involved in the program. For information about the program and to RSVP for the parent meeting, visit itrigirls.org

Visit itrigirls.org for more information and to read their success stories. They are truly touching. My daughter participated in the program several years ago. The photo of her crossing the finish line will always be a favorite!
