Little Barn Musical Theatre

The show must go on! Hayground Camp is OPEN this summer in a new, safe, smaller-sized weekly format for children ages 4 through 14.

Little Barn at Hayground will present musical theatre classes for children as one of the Camp’s featured activities each of the eight weeks from July 6 through August 29.

Each Little Barn at Hayground Musical Theatre class will feature dance/jazz, tap essentials, acting and singing lessons to make each budding performer blossom. On the first day of class, your child will receive a binder to place their specialized audition song and solo in leading up to a “mock” audition and showcase for their growing talents! We will also be featuring a couple of master classes in hair and makeup for stage, song interpretation, and essential audition skills!

The first 20 campers to sign up for our Musical Theatre classes will receive a complimentary special Little Barn dance bag with a featured prop (tutu for girls, top hat for boys).

Uniforms: Uniforms are not mandatory, but greatly encouraged after the first week of camp. Uniforms will be the base costumes for our showcase performances! There are links to Amazon.com on the Little Barn website (www.littlebarntheatre.com/uniform) so you can see the sample attire.

Girls: All female students should wear a black tank leotard with either tights, leggings, or bare legs. Dance shoes needed are tap shoes and either canvas ballet slippers or slip on jazz shoes. OPTIONAL: black slip on dance skirt, dance shorts or black tutu.

Boys: All male students should wear a black t-shirt with either black dance pants or black athletic shorts. Dance shoes needed are slip-on tap shoes and either canvas ballet shoes or jazz shoes.

Little Barn’s Founder and Director

After teaching at Hayground in the summer of 2019, our founder wished to create a structured yet freeing classroom setting for children to delve into their imagination and discover the magic of musical theatre. Making her dream become a reality, Little Barn Musical Theatre was born. Through her guidance, children have come alive in class and on stage performing traditional musical theatre. Kim’s mission for Little Barn perfectly aligned with Hayground’s view of the importance of a safe, supportive, and fun place for the children’s creativity to grow while giving back to the community they live in.

She hopes that Little Barn will inspire the children of the Hamptons to pursue performance, become artists, and find joyful encouragement through the magic of musical theatre.

Our cast of instructors at Little Barn pride themselves in being true Teaching Artists. Each teacher is both a performer in the musical theatre world and a mentor in the classroom. They dedicate themselves to lead by example while listening to the unique interests of individual students. Our “cast members” have specifically chosen to teach at Little Barn because they value the creative potential of each child while also gaining inspiration from the students for their own art.
