Bay Street audiences will recognize Joanna Howard from the Literature Live productions of The Crucible and To Kill A Mockingbird. She spent much of her childhood within the walls of Long Island’s theaters, performing in and attending local productions. At age eight she started her professional career, touring with the national production of Les Miserables. As a young adult, she continued her life in the theater and on film, appearing on various soap operas and workshopping new plays and musicals in New York. More recently, Joanna starred Off-Broadway and regionally in Peter and the Starcatcher; acted opposite Olympia Dukakis in The Tempest at Alpine Theater Project in Montana; and worked with Andre Gregory and Wally Shaun on A Master Builder. Local credits include Hampton Theater Company (Mauritius), and Guild Hall (various concerts, readings, and workshops). Film credits include Jonathan Demme’s A Master Builder, Hallmark’s Broadcasting Christmas, Lifetime’s A Very Nutty Christmas. Television credits include Law & Order: SVU and Lifetime’s I Love You But I Lied. Musically, Joanna performs in a three-woman band, The Buttery Barmaids, and sings jazz in venues across the East End of Long Island.
